Plans Made For Decreasing Curve On South Main St

Parowan officials expect a State Road Commission engineer to visit for a preliminary survey of the sharp curve at the south end of South Main Street Highway 9. The plan aims to straighten the curve to reduce danger. The delegation, led by Mayor E Tay Lyman and including councilmen and chamber members, met in Salt Lake City with commissioners.

Tribute Rites Held For Oscar M Lyman Prominent Resident

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Third Ward Chapel for Oscar M Lyman a prominent resident. Bishop Claude Ad aims of the Second Ward conducted the rites with Mayor E Tray i Lyman cousin and other local figures present. The service featured songs by the Third Ward Choir and performances by relatives and neighbors including a duet by Raila D Orton Whitney Orton and Marvy O Top lint. Benediction by Bishop A Hille Orton and dedicatory cemetery prayer by Kenneth Lyman closed the service. Pallbearers included Norman and Leonard Mickelson Kenneth and Jimmie Lyman Budd Munford and Harold Edwards.

Ten Members Complete Current Events Class

Ten members completed a ten week current events course led by Max Thiley under the adult education program Mhix marke completion of one of the ten courses in the community. The course covered lectures and class discussions on the backgrounds of current affairs in the city. At the concluding session members drafted a set of resolutions reflecting their observations and stressed the importance of adult education. Continued on page Three.

Sorensons Attend Paris Rotary Convention Delegates from Cedar City

Dr and Mrs L W Sorenson sail from New York aboard Queen Mary bound for Paris France to attend the Rotary International Convention set for May 24 to 28 as delegates of Cedar City Club They will depart Salt Lake City May 6 on the Los Angeles limited for the East Coast and expect to be away about six weeks Both have prior European visits with the doctor having served in France during World War I Their return trip is anticipated with much pleasure.

Cancer Drive Collections Reach All-Time High

Cancer drive efforts in Parowan have raised over $300, a 50 percent increase from any previous year, led by central committee co chairs Mrs Betty Sorenson and Mrs Edna Hateh. Stake Priesthood Ducorum Excursion to St George Temple

About seventy members from Paroewin Stake attended a temple excursion to St George Temple last Wednesday.
