Club to Build Cabin at Panguiich Lake

Death comes suddenly to Joseph B. Lister
Joseph Richard Lister 18 farmer and livestock man died at home Sunday evening after a sudden heart pain. Survived by widow Etta Robinson Lister and five children. Funeral held Wednesday at West Yard chapel with Bishops Adams and Mitchell officiating. The lengthy obituary notes Lister’s lineage, marriage, and his reputation as a diligent, honest citizen.

The Parowan High School Junior Prom last Friday drew about 280 tickets sold and a crowded gym. Decorations featured Mother Goose Land with all the Mother Goose characters and dances named Jack the Nimble Hop and Mother Hubbard Glide.

Power Company Plans City Proposition on Electricity Exchange
City council met with Reid Gardner from Dixia Power Co to consider supplying the city emergency power and buying all or part of its surplus. Gardner said the company could use virtually all surplus this summer and may need it year round if expansions proceed. Iron County Board Approves Teacher Contracts and Seminary Release
The Iron County Board of Education approved next year teaching contracts with a general salary reduction saving about 11 000 and granted release of Cedar and Parowan junior high students for weekly seminary work. They will enforce two years of normal training for new hires and require seminary teachers to meet same standards. The board also plans to discuss the One room school in Hnoch and whether to reopen it or send students to Cedar.

Rabbits Killed In Saturday Drive Sponsored By Gun & Rod Club
A large rabbit drive last Saturday, sponsored by the Gun & Rod Club, attracted four to five hundred participants. The line stretched about a mile, crossing between Way and Adams farms, where a wire corral collected nearly a hundred rabbits killed. Local Para gonah boys aided from the east as the drive inspired plans for another event.
