Community gathers for funeral tributes after the death of Mrs. Morgan Rich following a ten day illness from pneumonia. Her two year old infant preceded her in death. speakers praised her faith and service in the Paris Utah area church community.
Mrs. Standley Rich receives a letter from Mrs. Grimes mother of Eugene Grimes whose wife died in Paris Idaho. She thanks Paris residents for kindness during the funeral and notes the community’s support, the funeral details, and the grave cost. The letter also mentions Red Cross service and the train arrival. A wagon scale is offered for sale at $25 by Otto Rohner.
James Davis born in London August 9 1840 died February 7 aged 76 buried Paris cemetery after funeral. He joined LDS Church came to America 1862 on John J Boyd, crossed plains as driver and cook, settled Cedar City Utah, married Mary Fretwell April 23 1864, later led family to Arizona mission, built a home farm and a water wheel irrigation device, established a trading post for Indians, endured the 1884 Montezuma flood and hardship before eventual move to Bear Lake area.
Idell Lewis aged four months dies of pneumonia after flu in the city. funeral services near the family were led by Bishop Morris D Dowie with a quartet singing Neater-My God to Thee. Many relatives attend as prayers and gospel readings recall resurrection beliefs and eternal family bonds.
Funeral services for John W. Scheidigger Jr aged 23 were held at the First Ward meeting house with a Bear Lake American Legion post escort and a large crowd. Speakers praised his wartime service and loyalty before his untimely death after a railroad accident in Kemmerer.
Franklin Richards twelve year old son of Mrs. Emily Richards suffered severe burns from gasoline at an oil station Tuesday. He climbed into a storage tank to watch the level, was overcome by suffocating fumes, and was found unconscious in two inches of gasoline. He was rescued and given first aid, then recovered.
