James Davis born in London August 9 1840 died February 7 aged 76 buried Paris cemetery after funeral. He joined LDS Church came to America 1862 on John J Boyd, crossed plains as driver and cook, settled Cedar City Utah, married Mary Fretwell April 23 1864, later led family to Arizona mission, built a home farm and a water wheel irrigation device, established a trading post for Indians, endured the 1884 Montezuma flood and hardship before eventual move to Bear Lake area.

Small Boy Narrowly Escapes Gas Tank Incident
Franklin Richards twelve year old son of Mrs. Emily Richards suffered severe burns from gasoline at an oil station Tuesday. He climbed into a storage tank to watch the level, was overcome by suffocating fumes, and was found unconscious in two inches of gasoline. He was rescued and given first aid, then recovered.
