Phosphate Fertilizer Boosts Great Western Beet Yields
Scientific application of phosphate fertilizer to soils in the Great Western Sugar territory is linked to higher beet yields. Colorado growers may see 13.78 tons per acre, up 2.3 tons from the ten year average, with a projected harvest of 4,109,000 tons from 317,603 acres. Total payments could reach $28,765,000, with Colorado and Nebraska receiving large shares. An ongoing educational campaign since 1925 attributes the gains to soil treatment and fertilizer use, advised only after soil tests.
