Early September 9 fire of unknown origin gutted the garage and its contents including a Pontiac car saddle harness and tools at Lawrence Stewart’s home. Stewart and son Donald fought flames and alerted neighbors as the home escaped damage. The cause may never be known.
Mr. Chambers of Home Fire Insurance settled a garden city fire loss with Alex Johnson. School faculty includes Cornell Scofield Miss Edna Allen and Miss Wyona Mills. Attendance was good Monday. Bart Satterthwaite leads Hodge’s ranch this year and LaMont Scofield will drive the North Rich High bus to Laketown. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hodges visited Ogden Saturday. J N Cook and Theodore Hildt shipped peaches to townspeople. Miss Louise Pope and companions travel toward New Mexico for Elder Mattson’s mission. Mr. and Mrs. George L Langford depart for Tie Riding Wyoming to supervise interests. Mrs. Stella P Rich and daughter Ieno travel to Provo for Brigham Young University work and schooling.

Royal Thornock undergoes appendicitis surgery in Montpelier. Marvine Broomhead visits Brigham City. David Thornock seeks Boise medical care. Ivan Reese and George Piggott improve in Logan Hospital. Cecil and Mrs Thornock celebrate birth of a baby.
The Novelty Theatre presents the sensational Turf drama Sporting Blood with a star cast led by Clark Gable and Madge Evans. The film follows a gambler and a rehabilitated racehorse amid Derby lore and track intrigue. Notable actors Ernest Torrence and Marie Prevost join a large ensemble. County Agent Lyman Rich and his family visited local relatives with Ernest Shepherd during their Provo weekend.
A MI A opening social Thursday evening featured an enjoyable gathering with ice cream and no gifts. A missionary welcome home party for Elder Oral Ward is planned for Friday evening. Miss Thelma Wilks of Ogden Utah visits relatives in Paris and Bloomington.
