Potash Company Shuts Down Mining Project in Paris Canyon
Potash Company of America ends its exploration at the McKnee phosphate property in Paris Canyon after a year. Local engineer Charles Young says office and mining gear will move to a project near Nampa Idaho where he will transfer. A tunnel gained nearly a thousand feet with 130 feet of continuous phosphate face exposed in the last two weeks. Market conditions for raw ore do not justify mining now, though a processing plant may be built later with plans to start next spring.
