Probate Courts Appoint Probation Officers in 1905 law
Section 12 from Session Laws 1905 authorizes Probate Courts to appoint one or more probation officers of good moral character without pay. Judges must notify officers of upcoming cases, officers will investigate, represent the child in court, and assist as required. They may arrest and perform duties as needed under court direction.
