Round About the Town reports numerous residents visiting relatives across Idaho and Utah. A long list includes Ginger James Ada Stucki Bodlyn-Stuckli-Mes Melba Oman Bessie Passey Rex Matton and many more. Several families plan trips for missions and visits with relatives in Soda Springs Logan Salt Lake City and Pocatello.
A testimonial will be held Friday night at 7:30 in the Tabernacle at Paria for the retiring Stake Presidency of the Bear Fake Stake. The public is invited to attend as Norton D. Ash Lewes and others are listed in the notice.
Emerson School P P A will meet October 19 at 8 00 pm with Mr Hyrum Johnson as speaker. He will talk on Civil Defense.

The Montpelier Stake House hosts the Annual Christmas Fair on October 21 at 2:00 p.m. Bear Lake Home Demonstration Council and Montpelier Stake Relief Society sponsor the program. Attendees are urged to bring notebook pencil seignors and paper to copy ideas. Lola Springs will demonstrate several gift suggestions.
Three county school buildings were sold at public auction on Saturday October 14 at City Hall in Montpelier. The Fish Haven community bought the Fish Haven school and grounds for 200 dollars the appraised value. Ovid school and grounds sold for 200 dollars to the Ovid community with high bid. Geneva L D 8 Ward purchased the Raymond school building for 50 dollars. Keith Rich of Montpelier was appointed to the school board to fill Eldon Cook's term and will serve until next May.
The Iota Chapter met October 14 at a Soda Springs cafe dining room with members listed including Marva Mickeleon Gladys Gray Bancroft Aida Oakey Helen Whitman Minnie Mahblock and others. Hostesses were Rita Gorton Evelyn Thirkill Marguerite Findlay and Deanne Findlay. The November meeting will be in Montpelier at the Masonic Hall.
Grove Phelps of Bennington Idaho selected Bear Lake County Grassman of the Year after a summer tour of contestants lands. He will be honored with Cecil Quayle and Wilmer Brown at the Farm Bureau banquet in Montpelier Stake House on Friday November 3.
Mrs. Delia Cleveland welcomes Maurita visiting from Pocatello Rex Arnell had nose surgery in Soda Springs on Saturday. Mrs. James Transtrum visited Logan and returned Wednesday. J O Hex and wife spent Wednesday at Junior Pugmire home. Family and friends gathered for Roger Arnell testimonial with many couples attending. Jon Rex Pugmire treated for pneumonia in Montpelier hospital. Daniel Hymas welcomed fifth baby at Montpelier hospital October 16. Iva Pugmire cared for Vaughn’s infant son while Yvonne attended Debbie’s virus case.

The fall bull sale at Kemmerer saw 47 performance tested bulls sell for an average of 538 per head. Bar Cross Land and Livestock Co. of Cora, Wyoming bought 14 bulls totaling 7670 at 587 each, Norman Barlow bidding. High selling bull was 1100 for Cache Valley Breeding Ass'n of Logan Utah, bred by Herman Teichert and Sons.
George Albert Hymas longtime Liberty Idaho resident died October 7 1961 in Logan Utah after a long illness at age 78 He was born November 26 1882 to William A Hymas and Saloma Hammon Hymas He married Emma Johnson in 1905 and had 11 children four died before him Emma died in 1922 They moved from Liberty to Burley in 1920 and to Logan in 1958 He married a second wife in 1993 He is survived by his wife seven children seven stepchildren 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren Funeral services were held in Logan and Liberty with Bishop Warren W Passey officiating Burial in Liberty Cemetery Pallbearers were grandsons
The Fielding Chapter of the Future Farmers of America held its annual Initiation on October 16 1961 at the High School. Twenty five new members were initiated as guests spoke and a short program followed including a reading and a piano solo.
Officials of the Intermountain Quarter Horse Association announce the Golden Spike Show in Ogden from November 17 to 19, with advance entries from Idaho Montana and Nevada. About 400 horses are expected to compete in performance and halter classes, featuring cow cutting reining roping and a full junior show.
Salt Lake City eye specialist Dr H H Scarborough will be at the Motor Hotel in Montpelier October 30 and 31 to examine patients and fit new or updated eyeglasses. He urges timely eye checks as vision changes typically occur every two years.
Mr and Mrs George Palmer and Gilbert spent the weekend visiting Elwood and Chester Parker at Buhl Idaho. They also visited Eldon L Peterson in Nampa and Mr and Mrs F I Parkes. About 261 friends were seen in Boise. The events were busy.
