Dr. BE C Blodgett of the University of Idaho visited Bear Lake county on September 24 and 25. A newly discovered wheat smut appeared in the Raymond Geneva area with up to fifteen percent infection. The dwarf or stubble smut cannot be controlled by seed treatments and leaves heads on stubble after harvest. It does not attack spring wheat, allowing farmers with winter wheat stubble to plant in spring to avoid losses.
In Idaho Bear Lake County the probate court sets a hearing for October 23 1943 at 2 00 PM in Paris on the petition by M C Harris to admit the will of Sarah A Young deceased to probate and issue letters testamentary appointing M C Harris as executor The clerk notes the date October 6 1943 with the seal of the court and Judge Don C Haddock presiding.
Idaho opens rifle season October 5 with deer and elk hunts across numerous counties. Details list dates, locations, and permit fees including special hunts in Soldier Mountain and Rock Creek areas. The Moose Creek Selway hunt runs Sep 15 to Dec 15 and Middle Fork Salmon allows two deer per hunter.
