The Bear Lake Rangers invite girls ages 14 to 99 to enter a queen contest at the annual rodeo grounds. Entry details available from LaVan Nelson or Ben Kelsey. A weiner roast for members, contestants, and families follows the event.
The Paris Lions completed installation of two basketball backboards and baskets at the tennis court last week. Project chaired by Ron Peterson. Baskets donated by Fielding High School. Poles donated by Utah Power and Light. Equipment loan from Bob Jensen.
Colleen Hirschi of St. Charles and Rhonda Bateman were named co winners of the Keep Idaho Green essay contest by Bear Lake Jaycees. The Idaho Green How and Why? essay tied for top honors as judges LaVoy Lewis Joe Curran and Joe Jensen announced.
On Saturday the American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor its annual poppy day with selling in the morning and all day on the street and door to door. Poppy Day began in 1920 and remains a tradition honoring the dead and pledging allegiance to those living who served.
Rangers to hold a Saturday work day at the rodeo grounds at 1 00 p m for the 4th of July celebrations. Members are asked to bring brushes and fencing tools. The agenda includes repairs to bleachers and the arena and painting of the new bleachers.
Horsemen may enroll in a three day shoeing course running May 31 through June 3 at county fair grounds Bear Lake Caribou and Franklin counties. Reed Beebe leads 16 hours of lectures and demonstrations on hoof care shoeing and foot balance with two related clinics including a May 28 session in Preston led by Reed Beebe and Major George.
Miss Laraine Stucki 17 and co valedictorian at Fielding High School will receive a $2,000 Teamsters scholarship to pursue four years of college toward a medical career. She will enter Brigham Young University in September, one of 13 Western state awards totaling $2,000 each.
Jake Dustin son of Mr and Mrs Donald H Dustin of Garden City has accepted an appointment to the U S Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs He will enter June 27 He is a Highland High School honor student and licensed pilot He has held roles in Boy Scouts and civic groups and will speak at Highland commencement
The 58th commencement of Fielding High School is set for tonight at 8:00 p.m. in the Bear Lake Stake Tabernacle. Dr. T. H. Bell, Superintendent of Instruction for Utah, will be the featured speaker.
