Martin Sorenson of Ovid Dies Sudden ly
Martin Sorenson of Ovid Idaho died suddenly at home Sunday May 22 from a heart attack. Born July 2 1865 in Asker Norway he immigrated to Utah Idaho in 1869 and settled in Bear Lake valley and Ovid. He was a farmer and longtime LDS church leader with six sons two daughters and many grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Ovid ward chapel. Burial followed in Ovid.

Wheat allotment rules for Bear Lake County ACA farmers in 1950
Farmers planning to seed wheat for 1950 harvest and who did not harvest in 1947 48 49 must request in writing to the County Committee of the Bear Lake County ACA for an allotment. An allotment of 80 can be obtained before June 15 1949. Sgt Roscoe Caldwell arrived home for a month with his mother Mrs Ben Kelsey and family after serving with the U S Army in Hawaii. He will be stationed at a Michigan camp after leave ends June 20. Montpelier and Paria residents and several local visitors noted in a social roundup including travel to Lincoln Nebraska Vallejo California and other stops.

The North Rich High School Band earned a Superior minus rating at the 8th Southwestern Wyoming Music Festival in Kemmerer on May 14. Judges from the University of Wyoming and BYU praised the young ensemble, crediting director Farell Spencer and his wife Betty for the strong performance by 26 students.
