Randolph man Mark Hopkins died after a power saw broke while cutting cedar. He suffered a broken arm, a lacerated hand, a punctured lung cavity and disembowelment, with doctors Reay and Holland assisting. Survived by his wife Ailene, a two year old daughter, parents Mr. and Mrs. James Hopkins, and siblings.
The Second Ward Relief Society held its annual dinner and party last Thursday with a well planned program. A huge birthday cake adorned a table and J Patrick’s color scheme was used. A program followed by games and dancing at the pavilion.
Republican supporters in this city urge farmer and ex sheriff Arthur Budge to enter the primary for state senator on the Republican ticket. He has not announced his intentions at this time.
Stanley Arnell, a Camp Tifton pumping plant employee, was injured when a car with one light sideswiped him while he stopped to repair a broken chain on the state highway near St. Charles. Officials check other vehicles with one headlamp operating on the highway Tuesday evening.

The board of county commissioners will hold a special meeting at the courthouse on Wednesday March 30th at 2 o'clock. The meeting will consider purchasing road machinery and disposing of county property.

In a Bear Lake Union meeting at the stake tabernacle Roy A. Welker urged farmers to hold on to their dairy stock and plant sugar beets berries and gardens. He predicted the valley would rebound stronger and noted plans to stock the area with fish as part of a regional development led by Idaho Utah and Utah Power and Light Co.
Congress released 40 million bushels of federal wheat for free distribution to the needy. The American Red Cross will oversee sharing, with flour from milled wheat and chopped wheat for stock feed in stressed areas. Bear Lake county designates Mrs. John A. Wallis as Red Cross chairman. Lions Club Paris and Montpelier Chamber of Commerce, plus L C S bishops, act as distributing agents.

An early morning blaze gutted Sidney Thornock s Bloomington home. Loss estimated at 2000 with about half covered by insurance. Fire likely started from defective wiring, but investigators could not confirm cause as the entire house burned before inquiry. Mrs Thornock and her baby escaped with smoke filling the west bedroom. only a porch washing machine survived.
Mrs. Ann Anderson Crockett of this city, a former student of Utah State Agricultural College and California School of Fine Arts, displayed paintings at the USAC exhibit. The show, sponsored by the college Art Guild, featured Bear Lake scenes and portraits praised for color and rhythm. Early Spring, a dooryard scene, drew comparisons to Edward Bushfield, a painter of international repute, with student works also displayed.
J R Pugmire, manager of Pugmire Lands and Livestock Co., led a crew to Grey's Lake country 15 miles northeast of Soda Springs to move 200 head of beef cattle. They will be fed at the ranch northeast of Paris for the rest of winter before turning out on summer ranges.
