Six teams start the southeastern Idaho district class A basketball rounds robin at Idaho Southern gymnasium in Pocatello. Play begins 1 30 pm with a 7 30 pm night round and continues Friday. Pocatello and Blackfoot are top contenders as they renewed hostilities, while Preston Malad and others vie for a district crown.
Invitations issued by a committee revived civic interest to promote Bear Lake county resources. Over forty leaders from Paris and western towns attended a Hotel Paris luncheon, electing W Smith Hoge as president and naming John A Wallis as secretary treasurer.
Walter Anderson, candidate for United States senator, claims Pope as Democrat Idaho should debate if he becomes GOP nominee. Anderson criticized Pope for not voting against administration-backed measures and framed the challenge as a campaign stunt in Washington.
The Paris Post and Bear Lake Civic Club condemn the Paris exchange for failing to upgrade its 30 year old equipment. They urge modern facilities and quicker service to match other exchanges, arguing the old crank system wastes time in a fast world.

The American Legion marks its 19th birthday with a coast to coast NBC Blue Network program on March 16. National Commander Daniel J. Doherty will speak from Chicago, Auxiliary President Mrs. Malcolm Douglas from New York, and Fred G. Fraser from Washington. Jack Benny and Bob Burns join the lineup with Marvin Young producing the Hollywood segment. Famed orchestras provide music.

Merchants urged to decorate and promote to attract 900 to 1000 visitors daily.
An Oregon laborer on the Umatilla river levee project unearthed a full bottle of ancient moon shine yesterday. A fellow shoveler found a $16 gold piece and two stick pins, relics of the old gold rush era.
James A. McIlwee of Salt Lake City proposes an experimental TVA plant in the Paris canyon area to test converting western rock phosphate into fertilizer. He details site offers, local deposits near Paris and Cokeville, potential power and railroad access, and estimates a 40,000 horsepower operation using a mill and electric furnace to produce fertilizer at cost.
Chas F. Rogers known as the magic painter won two contracts to paint Wyoming high school buildings to be erected by O. H. Grimmett. The sites are in Cokeville and Pinedale. Rogers was the lowest bidder, reflecting pride for Paris locals in the building field.
