The Bear Rangers host horse show and rodeo July 3 and 4 with events at the fair grounds. A Tuesday 2 pm start opens fifteen classes for competition. a free public viewing follows Monday. A chuck wagon breakfast runs 5 am to 10 am on the athletic field, then a Main Street parade tops off the celebration with floats from local firms and groups.
A two day event at the fair grounds will feature rodeo riders and fast horse races. A Fourth of July fireworks display, coordinated by the Paris Lions Club, the American Legion, and the City of Paris, will climax the program both afternoons.

Mary Jane Rich 17 and Marlys Athay 16 of Paris will attend the 196 National convention of Future Homemakers of America July 2-6 at the Conrad Hilton Hotel Chicago. Both seniors at Fielding High School have held FHA offices and will assume leadership roles for 1956-57.
Patricia Robb of Salt Lake City a 1956 USAC graduate has accepted a home economics teaching position at Fielding High School She is one of 13 Utah State graduates in home economics education this month who have signed to teach next year in Utah Idaho and Wyoming.
Funeral services for Lydia Marley Weston who died at home in Laketown June 8 were held at the Laketown ward chapel with Bishop Norman E Weston presiding. The service featured a cousin prayer, Ward chorister Lola W Johnson, organist Julia Kearl, and a Paris Idaho quartet. Burial followed at Montpelier under Matthew Mortuary guidance.
The Ola Peterson family will hold a reunion at Lakota on June 6 starting at 10 a.m. All members are urged to attend.
Potash Company of America on the McKillwee Property near Paris Canyon switches from coal mining gear to metal mine mucking machines and pneumatic drills. Project engineer John Stitzer notes exploration now reaches about 550 feet, with many faults expected to complicate ore extraction. A laboratory analyzes mined samples, and a small stockpile of phosphate rock above 31 percent is being built.
Stakeholders Willard Johnson of Ovid and Geo Parker of Paris oversaw a spring fish trap removal in St Charles Creek on June 18. The trap captured 213 spawners and an estimated 300000 eggs were taken for the Whisky Creek Hatchery near Grace.
A Logan Cham ber of Commerce caravan with 150 cars and about 300 people plans a southeastern Idaho tour Friday June 29. The event promotes the Cache Valley Centennial and the USAC musical Look to the Land during the July 4th week. A pre-tour visit to Montpelier includes a box lunch and brief program Friday at 1:15 p.m. at Montpelier High School gym.
Mary Jo Humpherys and Gordon A Aland wed Tuesday June 12 in the Logan Temple with both sets of parents present. After a breakfast at the Bluebird the couple planned a Sun Valley honeymoon and will reside in Montpelier. A trousseau tea on June 7 honored the bride at Mrs Parallee Kendall’s home with gifts and helpers named. Local visitors and relatives were listed among social notices.
Mr and Mrs John Ballentyne and daughters of Phoenix arrive by Friday to attend Mrs Ralph Rich’s death. Ballentyne family returns Tuesday and Mrs Pearce with two children and Jean Ballentyne stay on at the D C Rich home. Mr Pearce plans to join them next week.
Conrad Michaelson of St Charles and another Jerome youth were chosen to represent Idaho at the National Future Farmers Chorus in Kansas City Missouri in late October. Michaelson belongs to the Fielding High School Future Farmers of America chapter and is the son of Mr and Mrs Alton Michaelson.
The jury panel was selected Tuesday as Leonardo Rodriguez faces murder charges in the slaying of Juan Louis Alvarado. District Judge John A Carver presides with Rog er D Burgoyne as prosecutor and Dr Haddock and George Philips representing the defendant. Jurors chosen include Ivan Beck Archie Homer Wm Lauridsen Seth Dunn Scott Ward Alma Findlay Grant Esterholdt Lloyd Matthews John Stephens D Wayne Nowland Warren Passey Lyman Kunz with alternates Donovan Howell and Dewey Jensen.
Raeda McCammon and Burth Wallentine were married Monday June 25 at the Logan Temple with Pres George A Raymond officiating. The bride is the daughter of Ray and Mrs McCammon of Georgetown, the groom son of Paris. A wedding breakfast followed at Zanavoo Lodge Logan Canyon and the couple plans a southern Utah honeymoon.
Lucille Hulme married Grant W. Smart in a June 8 ceremony at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple officiated by ElRay Christiansen. Bride's Bloomington lineage ties to Mr and Mrs John Hulme. groom's Paris lineage through Juanita W Smart and the late Lyman Smart. A wedding breakfast followed at Earl Sessions’ home in Bountiful.
Bear Lake Rangers plan a large turnout for a Chuck Wagon Breakfast on Wednesday morning July 4 on the FHS Athletic Field. Smith Gertsch installed as President of the Paris Lions Club at a canyon party in Paris Park. Officers named: Floyd Lewis Vice President Eugene Stucks Secretary Charles Wyler Lion Tanner Willard Hansen Tail Twister Directors Bob Allison Morris Athay. Hold-over directors Ralph Roghaar Wm Jensen. Awards honored long service and perfect attendance with multiple members cited. About thirty members and guests attended a pot luck supper.
Jack Kennard of the Soil Conservation Service said he is moving from Bear Lake to Franklin SCD with Preston HQ. Joe Rowsell will lead SCS duties temporarily in Bear Lake SCD with part time support from Art Bevan to cover Caribou Portneuf and Iricta areas. Kennard will relocate his family to Preston after selling his Montpelier home.
In a Salt Lake Temple ceremony on June 22 Elder John B. Hawkes united Robert Wood and Norma Rosengren in marriage. Attendants included Cardon Willis and a bride’s aunt. A wedding breakfast at the Doll House followed, with celebrations at the bride’s sister’s home. The couple plans a Northwest honeymoon and will reside in Hayward California where Robert works for W. T. Grant, as did Norma. Robert, a University of Utah graduate, is from Lake Town and Norma is from Salt Lake City.
Gee Nessbitt of Salt Lake arrived Monday for a visit with his daughter Mrs. Grant Rich and family. Harold Rogers Rex Rogers and their spouses from Salt Lake spent the weekend at Alfred Rogers home. Mrs George Ramey hosted Tuesday afternoon for friends of her son Herbert in honor of his 12th birthday with games and refreshments.
Marlene Nye daughter of Vivian Nye was released from Bear Lake Hospital Wednesday after a Saturday morning auto accident near Fish Haven. She suffered multiple rib fractures and cuts from the crash when the car left the road and struck an embankment, ejecting her from the vehicle.
Rollan L. Allred aged 67 died June 14 in Ogden after a long residence in Fairview Wyoming. He was born January 5, 1889 in St. Charles, son of Medwin and Maria Stock Allred. He married Edith A Tsraelson October 5, 1916 in the Salt Lake Temple. she died in 1947. Funeral services were held June 18 in Hyrum, Utah.
The St Charles Local Farm Bureau held a Talk Meet and Talent Find in the amusement hall. Winners announced across instrumental, readings, vocal, and novelty categories include Anna Marie Ward and Marilyn Ward both from Bloomington, Qynn Peterson of Bloomington, and several others. Winners advance to the county meet at Montpelier on July 13.
Descendants of the Swan Arnell family met on Saturday June 23 at St Charlies Ward hall. Three direct descendants Bert Arnell Edward Arnell and Eva Croasaley attended. Lunch at 1 30 p m featured children s races supervised by Udell Williamson and prizes of balloons and candy.
The American Legion and Auxiliary plan an officer election during a canyon party at Paris Park Saturday at 7 30 p m. Rhea Hulme, employed in Salt Lake City, spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Amos Hulme.
Qfr and Mire John Hemmert and family of Soda Springs along with Mr and Mrs George Hemmert and son of Montpelier were Sunday called by their parents Mr and Mrs Peter Hemmert.
Mr and Mrs Darrell Beck and their son from Pocatello visited Saturday and Sunday at the Ivan Beck home. Young Quake Beck remained to spend the week with his grandparents.
Louis Garfuss joined his landlady Bes sie Draper and her Ogden niece for a Sunday afternoon with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bar fuss to celebrate his mother's birthday anniversary.
Visitors including Mr and Mrs Or Jand Nutt and sons from Hayward Gall and Mr and Mrs Gordon Nutt with family from Ogden visit Mr and Mrs Otto Bucher. W Becker family from Rupert Me join Mrs Leland Wallentine and others. Joan Wallen remains in hospital in Salt Lake City.
Funeral services for Leola Passey Rich wife of Ralph Rich who died June 20 were conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Paris 1st ward chapel with Bishop Morris B Athay presiding. Interment followed in Paris Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, son Clair age 6, her mother, five brothers and four sisters.
Aabby L. Kunz, age two, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland D. Kunz of Bern, died Friday at home from cancer. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Bern Ward Chapel.
A group of explorers began a training and base orientation at Hill Field after traveling from Ganark on June first. They rode in a C 47 for a scenic flight over northern Utah, Bear Lake, Star Valley and returned. The second event followed last week as explorers Farrell Merlin Verney Dennis Parker Bart Eborn Glenn Passey led by Wis hin Orr hiked the Washakie trail near Franklin Maple Creek carrying 40 lb packs. They camped at Cache Valley Scout camp then trekked through Gibson basin Horse Lake Hgon basin Bloomington Lakes Minnetonka Cave Fish Haven Camp Nebeker and arrived 2 30 pm after one member fell ill and others weakened but recovered with care and prayer. Mrs Jean Passey and son of Ashton along with Mr and Mrs Hart Sco field and son of Sugar City attended the Jesse Lewis funeral for Mrs Ralph Rich.
