High production hen sets record in Utah station test

A breeding trial at the Utah Experiment Station shows profitable long term gain in hens. One pen of twenty four birds aged four to eight years totals over 700 eggs per bird, with a standout hen laying 1088 eggs by May 1 and a five year total of 977 eggs. Professor Byron Alder notes the hen ranks among the best known producers.

County Politics Heats Up as 1926 Campaign Begins

Sage Hen Season May Be Cut Down

Boise reports from the Idaho state game department indicate a possible ten day sage hen hunting season this year due to dry conditions. R W B Thomas said the period may be shortened to protect the species and that a thorough investigation will be conducted to balance sports interests with conservation. He warned the sage hen is among the few remaining game birds and its extinction would be a calamity.

Phosphate Rock Mined in U S Gains in 1925

The total phosphate rock mined and sold in 1925 in the United States amounted to 481 819 long tons valued at 11 546 678 dollars. The Bureau of Mines department of commerce compiled the figures from producer reports and found a 21 percent increase in quantity and 13 percent rise in value compared with 1924.

Fish Haven Store Burglarized Sunday

Sometime Saturday evening or early Sunday the Jesse Cottle store at Fish Haven was broken into by removing a rear door panel. A Savage rifle in 22 calibre, several cans of corn, and a few dollars from the post office in the store were taken. No clues exist but local boys are suspected.
