Ovid Dance Hall Fire Destroys Pavilion In Idaho Town

Help Save the Babies Measures to weigh and test children
The government asks states to save babies as more youths go to war. Idaho’s allotment is 367. Bear Lake County will begin a weighing and measuring test for every child under five in early July with times published next week. A doctor or nurse will conduct the tests. A Mothercraft lecture series will be offered in Paris and possibly Montpelier.

Paris Saint Stucki Death Marks Utah Pioneer Leader
President J A Stucki, a Swiss-born Utah settler and Swiss German advocate, died following illness after returning from a mission. He helped settle Bear Lake Valley and Providence Cache County, served as stake clerk for over 40 years, and held roles as county official and notary. He leaves 12 children and 27 grandchildren. Funeral in Paris today at 2 p.m. He will be remembered for public service and steady counsel. Next week Paris Commercial Club to elect officers.

Montpelier Night Watchman Kills Suspect in Shootout
Night Watchman Kunz and Night Marshal Buck pursued a fleeing armed man near Pescadoro after a confrontation with four men in Montpelier. Buck shot the suspect with a 22 caliber rifle, killing him. coroner’s inquest found death caused by rifle wound and exonerated Buck.

German Alien Females Must Register In 1918 War Measure
Department of Justice through the Attorney General announces three rulings mandating the registration of German alien females. Registration starts 6 a.m. Monday June 17 1918 and runs daily except Sundays through Wednesday June 26 1918 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Postmasters will conduct the registration. The measure is an exigency of war and applies to all, loyal or disloyal.

Ideal Beach Opens With Free Concerts and Dances
