Lake Rangers Plan Day Horse Show Rodeo in Paris

Lake Rangers announce a two day event the Third Annual Horse Show and Rodeo to be held in Paris on Tuesday July 3 and Wednesday July 4. Events include stock horse classes matched pairs pony and quarter horse races with cash prizes and a queen and attendants selection to reign over the show. Admission labeled 50 cents adults and 26 cents children.

4H Club Notes and Meetings Across Activities

Stitchers 4 H club elected Carlewis as president and Budge as vice president with Garway secretary and Nareese Athay Maurine Athay Merlyn and Rhea Hulme on the refresh committee. Nifty Nine club elected Arline president Vonda vice president Janine secretary reporter and demonstrated sewing. Ann Stock and Metba Pug hosted a meeting adjourned to Mrs Gall Hansen of Hebe. A baby girl born to Mrs Gall Price is noted.

Red Cross Swim Classes End Friday in Paris Chapter

The Paris Chapter American Red Cross two week swim school closes Friday June 16 at Bear Lake Hot Springs. A total of 278 students have enrolled. four instructors led by the director achieved notable progress. Examinations for certificate recipients will be given Friday during class periods. Parents and others are invited to visit the pool to observe.

Bear Lake farmers urged to request 1951 wheat allotments

Bear Lake County PMA Chairman Wesley Dodge urged farmers who did not seed wheat in 1948 1949 or 1950 but will grow wheat in 1951 to file a 1951 wheat acreage allotment request by June 26 1950. Forms for new grower allotments are available at the Bear Lake PMA office in Montpelier.

Fielding High School mill levy passes by 11 votes

In Fielding High School District an extra 6 percent mill levy carried by 11 votes, 43 for to 37 against. Towns Sharon Liberty Lanark Ovid Paris Bloomington St Charles Fish Haven vote tallies show mixed support, with Emerson School District favoring a 10 mill levy by 25 to 1.

Stake Swarm Day Celebrates Bee Hive Girls Honor Bees

MIA Stake held Stake Swarm Day at Bloomington amusement hall on May 31 with 220 attendees including Bee Hive girls mothers Bee Keepers and YWMIA ward leaders. Eighty five girls were recognized 53 earning Honor Bee titles and receiving the book Heart of the Rose.

Book Club Hosts Social and Swimming Class News

Lorna Haddock and Lula Reese hosted a Book Club gathering at Reese home with attending couples and individuals listed. Red Cross Swimming class enrollment includes many local residents such as Nadine Dunford, Joyce Madsen, Inez Findlay, Leora Reese, and numerous Piggott and Ward family members. Visits include Paris and Goda Springs, with several Thornock, Patterson and Haddock family members noted.

Dr David J Sutton Dies in Salt Lake City

Funeral services were held for Dr David James Sutton 76 of Logan in Salt Lake City as he died of a heart ailment at a daughter’s home. A Budge Clinic alumnus and 1924 retiree, he was born June 3, 1874 in Paris Idaho and married Mary Emma Brown in 1902. Survivors include his widow nine children two sisters and 20 grandchildren.

Death of 17 year old Max Daniel Roberts in Lanark

Max Daniel Roberts aged 17 died Friday morning at his parents home in Lanark after a heart attack. Born August 24 in Lanark he suffered prior paralysis from a nerve condition and influenza earlier this spring. Survived by parents two sisters Velda Connie Roberts and two grandfathers Owen Roberts and David King. Funeral Tuesday at 1 pm in the Lanark ward chapel conducted by Archie Parker with musical tributes and remarks by Amoz Hulme. The grove was dedicated by Warren Passey.
