Bennington Flier Hero in Truk Raid
Lieutenant Harold W. Wright of Bennington piloted a Liberator back from the Truk raid on June 2 despite severe damage. The mission destroyed at least 10 Japanese planes and centered bombs on Dublin Town. Wright survived the flight of over 900 miles despite losses in his crew.

Funeral Services Held Friday for Laketown Lady Eliza V Irwin
Funeral services for Eliza V. Irwin were held Friday at 1 p m in Laketown ward chapel with Bishop Amos B Robinson presiding. Choir songs, prayers, and speakers including Robert Schmid of Bern Tolsho and Hyrum Nebeker marked the service. The grave was dedicated by Ernest Waterlaus as Mrs Irwin’s 13 children attended along with many relatives and friends.

Former Fish Haven Teacher Dies Suddenly at 39
Funeral services in Garland Utah for Hyrum Virgil Hall 39 of Salt Lake City were held after he died Tuesday last week of a heart attack. He taught at Fish Haven for years before leaving in 1941 and was a civilian fireman at the Salt Lake army air base. He is survived by a wife a son and his parents and siblings.

Future Farmers Show Bright at Intermountain Fat Stock Show
The Welding Future Farmers posted a solid showing at Salt Lake's Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show. Charles Hulme’s calf won its weight class at 16.5 cents per pound, William Rich’s steer took third at 18 cents, and steers owned by Alfred, Fred Lewis, and Blaine Rich averaged 18 cents. Several unfinished steers were culled, earning 15 to 15.5 cents per pound. Other exhibitors included Mark Madsen, Kanyon Wilkes, Don Parker, and Lynn Peterson. Most remaining stock will head to Ogden in November for another event.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Ovid Ward chapel for Mrs. Mary Sorenson 70 who died June at her home in Ovid. She was born October 13 1878 in Bloomington to Mat thew and Ann Thornock. She moved to Ovid after marrying Niela J Sorenson in 1890 and was widowed in 1916. Surviving are three daughters and two sons, plus a sister. services included songs and remarks, with burial by Peter Nielsen Mortuary arrangements.
