Fish Haven Girl Wins French Institute Award at USA
Miss Diane Findlay of Fish Haven Utah has been chosen among hundreds as one of 26 participants for the French Institute at Utah State University from June 10 to August 2. Funded by the National Defense Education Act the program trains teachers in French language methods and lab use, with eight weeks of immersion. Diane, a Fielding High and Utah State graduate, will teach French and English in Fresno California.

Army Sgt. Edward R. Sleight son of Mr and Mrs Seymour G Sleight of Paris graduated from the 7th Infantry Division Non Commissioned Officer Academy in Korea in mid May. He received four weeks of refresher training focusing on leadership and combat tactics as part of broadening NOCO professional knowledge and confidence. Sleight assigned to Company A 1st Battle Group 17th Infantry in Korea entered the Army in 1956 last stationed at Fort Ord California arrived overseas in October 1962. The 24 year old is a Fielding High School graduate.
