Bear Lake Wheat Growers Vote on Marketing Referendum
Bear Lake county farmers vote on June 25 to decide if marketing quotas will apply to the 1956 wheat crop. A two thirds approval triggers quotas and penalties on excess wheat, with price support 75 to 90 percent of parity for compliant growers. If more than one third vote no, quotas and penalties do not apply. Acreage allotments remain in effect for 1956 with price support at 50 percent of parity for compliant farmers.
