The synopsis follows Transley, a master of men, as Hay matting case stacks 2000 tons head to the big D ranch headquarters. Foreman Linder appears substantial but unsure. Crark, an irresponsible suitor, courts Zen while Y D warns Transley to cut the South D. Lands on warning, Denison Grant and Landson clash over leases, and conflict escalates as Transley camps on the South D. Zen and Y D ride to the area amid mounting tensions.
In a moonlit camp Transley hosts Y D and Zen with wary overtures from rival Landson interests. Zen gently probes Linder as Tansley steers boundaries while a snow scented wind hints at looming danger and desire.
