Lost Boy Found After Emigration Canyon Search Near Sharon
Larry Bborn age six wandered during a family outing in Emigration Canyon. He was missing about five hours before two residents found him near the highway by the Lawrence King home as deputies, rangers and locals joined a search using 4 wheel drive vehicles horses and on foot. Deputy Sheriff Robert Miller resigned effective July 31 leaving Bear Lake County for Cache County duties.

Multiple Utah crashes cite police and injuries reported
State police report two crashes on Highway 89 near Haven and Georgetown. Sue Elkins of Bountiful and Ruth Ann Hupp of Tremontonwere in a northbound car when Elkins tried a right turn. Arthur Seamons, 16, Ogden, and passengers were cited for following too close. In Georgetown a trolley wagon collided with a car driven by Carroll Gleason. Melvin Crane's bale wagon struck Gleason, no injuries. Warren Gleason and Samuel Gleason were noted. William Pugmire, 18, of St Charles, injured, cited for failing to observe basic rules.

Twenty fifth grade students completed the outdoor conservation education program about The World Around Us. Tours included phosphate mine, mills, coal mines, and reservoirs with an exchange student from India observing a fish planting. Truck tax due for highway users
The annual Federal Highway Use Tax on trucks is due Aug. 30 per IRS officer John Anduiza. The tax applies to trucks operated in July and covers the year ending next June 30. Rates range from 81 to 180 dollars, prorated for trucks placed on the road after July.

Vaughan FE Tippets district forest ranger for Paris has been awarded a certificate of merit announced by Merlin I. Bishop Cache National Forest supervisor. Floyd Iverson regional forester Intermountain Region signed the recognition noting Tippets ten years as Paris district ranger and 84 years in the forest service. He graduated from University of Idaho with a forestry degree and has held seven positions during his career with distinction.

Three Men Accepted into Bear Lake County Jeep Patrol
At a regular meeting Sheriff Mac Monon announced three new members Téa Knowlés Dalle Wixem and Vernal Domai joined the Bear Lake County Sheriffs Jeep Patrol bringing total membership to 40. The patrol aids in lake patrols search and rescue and operates on a volunteer basis with members paying for their own gear.
