Register to vote for primaries in Bear Lake county

Bear Lake county voters must register by 9 p m Saturday July 24 to vote in the August 3 primaries. Registration is at Paris precinct at Emma Clayton's residence or the courthouse Saturdays 9 a m to 6 p m Rural registrars visit homes. One registration covers both primary and general elections. Citizens who register may vote in the August primary even if not in the state six months yet, with general election eligibility later.

Lightning Sets Fire at Poulsen Property Near Smedley Brickyard

During an electric storm last Thursday evening lightning struck near a shed and hay stack on the Poulsen property east of town near the old Smedley brickyard. Calvin Smedley and others saw the bolt ignite a blaze and their efforts prevented major damage.

Local contractor O. H. Grimmett was notified he had the lowest bid for adding a gymnasium auditorium and dance hall to Central High School. Funeral rites held for George L. Reese in Bloomington

Impressive funeral services were held Saturday July 10 in the Bloomington ward chapel for George L. Reese. The service featured solos by Mrs Price and Pearl, violin by Thomas L Johns, and remarks from John Ward Alma Findlay Eugene Hart Howard Broomhead. Reese, born April 23 1886 in Bloomington, died July 8 at his home from heart trouble. He married Ella Price in the Salt Lake temple in 1920 and is survived by his widow and his parents Lotwich and Mary Reese, plus brothers Victor Ivan Merrill Eldon and sister Mrs LaVina Hunter.
