Greg Caldwell son of Mr and Mrs Ross Caldwell owners of the Country Cupboard Market in Paris was injured Wednesday afternoon when his horse was impeded by a clothes line and he fell. He suffered severe head cuts and injuries and is confined to Bearake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier.
Mrs. Jesse McClelan chairing the Red Cross Blood Program on the west side of Bear Lake Valley commended the capable volunteer workers who helped with the blood drawing on June 28. Nurses named include Mrs. Millie Crockett and Mrs. J. H. Olsen among others. assistants included Rodney Jacobson and David Parker with several listed volunteers.
The Fielding High School Class of 1952 held its 15 year reunion on July 3. A family gathering at Paris preceded an evening banquet at the Vir-Day Cafe Cypress Room in Montpelier with Merrill Pugmire as host and master of ceremonies.
Superintendent Willis G. Nelson reports most teacher assignments at Bear Lake County Junior and Senior High Schools are complete but vacancies remain. Two music instructors are needed after resignations, and the junior high lacks English foreign language and physical education staff. Emerson Elementary gains Lewis Teuscher as principal and 6th grade teacher. Students changing to junior high must re register due to curricular changes. registration will follow curriculum finalization and staff schedules.
School boards list seventh grade teachers at Lincoln Montpelier with Delsa Michie head teacher Gertrude Teuscher and Sarah Rigby. City Marshal Ben Kelsey and Idaho State Police Officer Ed Chadwell investigated a nighttime accident on U S 89 near the C A Vallentine meadow gate. A car carrying Eben Collins and family struck a cow from Dean Ward's herd. occupants uninjured. cow valued at 725 dollars and willed.
Supt Willis G Nelson explains to Dingle Bloomington and St Charles patrons that the three schools will close this fall unless a petition signed by five patrons reaches the Clerk of the Board before August 1. If filed, a county wide election will be held and two thirds of votes cast are required to keep the schools open.
The Bear Lake County Fair Board set the Bear Lake Gourity Queen Contest for July 20 at 2:20 pm. Entrants must be 14 years old or older and each contestant must ride her own horse.
Emerson Memorial School and Bear Lake County Junior High in Paris are repaired and painted this summer. Stage floors and gym areas are refinished and the Emerson gym may host events. Birch paneling bids were let for Emerson halls and lighting bids are sought for the Emerson gym.
