City Council Advances Water Works Extension and Lighting Plan

The council approved Shepherd Howe & Imp. Co. bid for water works materials at 1217.71 and ordered construction to start with days wages under water works supervision. Utah Power & Light sketches prompted a lighting cost estimate about 69c per front foot and annual maintenance of 16 dollars per front foot, with a July irrigation restriction and a public meeting set for July 11. An emergency liquor ordinance was passed and street obstructions along Main Street were ordered removed.

Rich County Finds Another Flowing Well in Sage Creek

Randoloph Utah R J Hatch struck a water flow on his Sage Creek ranch while driving a well. George Oda of Wisconsin and Otis Cheney of Laketown aided. Flowing at 200 feet, the well yields about 1.5 gallons per minute, soft iron-containing water. Ochs plans more flows for other ranchers as several are currently drilling.

Cache Range Driest in 15 Years Says Forest Chief

B C Arentson supervisor of Cache National Forest, in Paris for a bug infestation camp, reports the Cache Forest range is the driest in 15 years since Logan began records. Forage is drying with no snow and shrinking springs, raising fire risk if rain does not return. Deer and stock remain plentiful and high in the forest.

City issues new impound rule for untagged dogs and enforces the dog tax due in May. Unclaimed dogs face impoundment and potential disposal if not claimed by owners.

Flags for veterans funerals in Bear Lake county

A flag for burial of any soldier is available at the Bear Lake county post office. H L Spencer, the local postmaster, announced the service authorized by Congress and distributed by the Veterans bureau in Boise under H C Hudelson. When a soldier dies a new flag is supplied to the post office by the bureau. The flag measures five foot hoist and nine foot six inch fly.

Mayor insists Bear Lake water reserved for irrigation

Mayor Barzilla W. Clark of Idaho Falls urges prioritizing irrigation over power at Bear Lake. He cites extensive pumping and dredging projects lowering the lake by 13 feet in three years, warned of long term loss to farming and dairy regions if storage and irrigation are neglected. Joel L. Preest of Boise and BE. C. Manson of Pocatello visited Paris in a special car on a goodwill tour. They seek local input and promised to fix complaints. Surfacing Job To Begin Monday On State Highway

Workmen arrived Friday to begin preliminary work Monday on the Lava Hot Springs to Bear Lake county line highway, resurfacing 42.3 miles. The Quinn Robbins company of Boise secured the contract for $103,517.
