Senator Ola Transtrum Dies After Spotted Fever
Funeral services were held for State Senator Ola Transtrum 68 of Bear Lake valley who died last Thursday night after a ten day illness from spotted fever following a woodtick bite. Born March 17 1864 in Hyrum Utah he moved to Bear Lake in 1865 and lived there most of his life. He was a longtime Idaho Democratic leader and a Bear Lake L D S stake official. He is survived by his widow and seven children.

Streams of Bear Lake gradually clear and fly fishing is reported good in most places. Recent rains kept creeks flowing longer than usual this spring aiding trout growth. Tens of thousands of fingerlings released last fall now reach catchable size, and with mosquitos waning in ten days, conditions should be ideal.

Richard Sutton Dies in Utah Pioneer Passes at 71
Richard Shepherd Sutton 71 a pioneer of Utah died Monday at his daughter Mrs J W Ridd’s home in Magna. Born January 6 1861 in Salt Lake he lived in Paris and Pleasant Green where he married Sarah Jacobs and later Elizabeth Jacobs. He supervised the Utah mine Fish Springs for 15 years and worked 26 years total. Survived by sons and daughters and many siblings. Funeral today in Pleasant Green ward with burial in Pleasant Green cemetery.

President approves site for hatchery in Hagerman Idaho
The Department of Justice approved title to the Hagerman Federal fish hatchery site and plans for initial construction. Report from Kemmerer Wyoming states John W Hay of Rock Springs sold the largest wool clip in the state weighing about 400000 pounds for 6 3 4 cents a pound. Rosenthall Bros of Boston were the purchasers according to the report.

Ancient Horse Fossils Found Near Hagerman Idaho
Smithsonian expedition near Hagerman unearthed about 16 tons of fossil bones. Scientists piece together a missing link between three toed horses and modern horses, naming the find plesippus shoshoensis. An exhibit is at the state historical society museum, with material sought by the society.

Six youths die in dynamite cap explosion at Meaderville
In Butte Montana on Independence Day a group of six youths celebrating with dynamite caps were killed when the caps exploded at Meaderville Ball Park. A miner, Louis Bonetto, found the grisly scene and authorities identified the victims. The blast occurred around 1:05 pm as others had left earlier. investigators believe a knife used to prime caps caused the explosion. The tragedy left families devastated with no eyewitnesses to the moment.
