Idaho schools will receive one car load of 445 cases of canned ripe olives for the school lunch program. This marks the first distribution of olives to schools and aims to help students develop a taste for the product while managers plan to purchase olives locally. Surplus commodities like butter flour rice corn meal and dried milk are available for Home Economics classes through the State Department of Education with participation forms.

Union Pacific Railroad renews its potato disease fellowship at the University of Idaho increasing the grant from 2100 to 2400 dollars to fund expanded research.
