Red Cross Paris Chapter Sets $2400 Quota for Drive

The Paris Chapter of the American Red Cross aims for a $2400 quota with $1700 to National Headquarters and $700 kept locally. The drive targets the first week of March, led by War Fund Chairman Jesse Matthews of Liberty and a team of assistants across multiple communities. Thelma B Bunderson is named Executive Secretary for the Paris Chapter.

Physical Education Assembly Program At High School

The Physical Education department presented an assembly Friday afternoon at the high school. Freshmen PE students led by Mrs. Henry Sparks and Coach Ivan Willmore performed a tap dance demo.

Purple Heart Awarded to Son Wounded in Germany

Mr and Mrs William Lauritzen received the Purple Heart from their son Loyal who was wounded in action in Germany. Loyal is in an English hospital receiving treatment for his wounds.

Marine Sgt. John Price graduates from a 28 week Airborne Electronics Maintenance course at Naval Air Technical Training Center Corpus Christi Texas. In the 1st Ward after noon meeting Sunday Mr and Mrs Clifford Price spoke on the Gemmron on the Mount. Mr Price read letters from boys in military duty reflecting their religious reactions and Mrs Price spoke on obedience. Sgt Lawrence H. Spencer, 26, of Paris Idaho, with the 2nd Infantry Division, received the Combat Infantryman Badge from Major General Walter M. The W. W. Brown ranch at Liberty Idaho purchased an intensified Ormsby bred herd sire from Hester Dairy San Jose California. The bull, Los Robles Ormsby Gerben Lyons, scores very good for type with two year old daughters over 600 fat on twice daily milking. The Brown herd traces Ormsby bloodline to Willowdale Skylark Beauty the 1942 Utah State Fair Grand champion cow later sold to Carnation Milk Farms.

Missing in Action: First Sgt Lloyd J Passey

First Sgt Lloyd J Passey is reported missing in action as of December 16 in the European theater. Inducted August 1942, overseas since October, he trained in Tennessee South Carolina and Illinois. He is the son of Mrs H Passey and a Fielding High school graduate.

PTA Talk On Education For Living At Omerson School

The Omerson school PTA met Wednesday evening as Mr. Hanks Montpelier Boy Scout director spoke on Education for Living. Topics included state aid for school lunches with War Food Administration paying four cents per meal per child. Mrs Lucille Crawford announced available funds from the Anti Tuberculosis Association for a health project and a committee led by Mrs Crawford will study uses and report at the February meeting.
