Idaho's 109 lawmakers were sworn in Monday as the two houses organized for a 60 day session. Alfred Budge administered the oaths as the joint session ended and the house began selecting a speaker, choosing M. A. Kiger.
An upcoming Stake meeting at the Paris Wardhouse on Sunday features the Stake Choir and musical numbers. Elder Vivian Erickson of Fish Haven, recently from a Northern States mission, and Miss Nameflich of Paris, back from a California mission, will speak. Both are noted for earnest, engaging talks, promising a profitable hour for a large audience.
Fielding high school opened its schedule with a 33 to 17 victory over Montpelier high on Montpelier floor. Tueller scored five field goals and Dayton seven as Fielding took and held the lead after a tentative start.
State Senator Ola Transtrum of St. Charles and State Representative H. B. Hull of Montpelier left Saturday morning for Boise to attend the opening Monday of the State legislature.
Pacific Fruit Express company officials began their ice harvest at Montpelier Tuesday. The fire is now between twelve and fifteen inches thick, and within a crew of about sixty men, they expect to complete the harvest in two weeks. The tenth session of the legislature saw House concurrent resolution No 1 adopt a committee of three to confer with a Similar Committee from the senate on joint rules. The committee: Keeton Republican of Benewah, Congdon Republican of Ada, and Wilson Democrat of Caribou. House concurrent resolution No 2 providing for a joint session to hear the governor's message was also adopted. Seating arrangements were assigned with veterans and those with disabilities given preferred seats.
Unofficial estimates place twenty million dollars for American Falls and Minidoka irrigation works in five years. Eight and a half million would fund the American Falls reservoir with capacity around a million acre feet, while eleven and a half million would extend Minidoka irrigation for settler use. Government involvement would bring about 3000 laborers to southern Idaho. The current appropriation expires July 1, risking revert to the general fund, prompting supporters to push fast elections and clear decisions.
Bloomington residents held a friendly evening with games music readings and luncheon. Guests included H H Broom Fred Jacobson Erman Stevens J Thornock Frank Thompson Christ ensen Ernest Payne Nelson Wilkes Vada Jacobson Irene Palmer Ruby Palmer Cyril Jacobson Don Nelson Merrell Thompson and H W Thornock. The gathering ended with neighbors expressing warm good will.
The two day Extension School will visit Paris January 18 and 19 with talks on local problems by top inter mountain figures. Pren Moore, Miss Zudreele, Miss Kelly and others from the University of Idaho and Extension Division will speak on poultry husbandry seed selection and home economy. The program includes morning poultry sessions afternoon farm excursion and evening lectures on home value and farm enterprise.
Boise report says Democrats will introduce a bank deposit guaranty bill in the Seventeenth Idaho Legislature. The plan requires banks to pay 4 percent of capital stock into a credit fund for depositor protection, with possible later adjustments tied to daily deposits.

The County Commissioners met in the County Courthouse on Monday. Two newly elected commissioners were sworn in and Ed C. Rich of Montpelier was elected chairman, succeeding Wm. R. Morgan of Liberty. Dr Guyont of Montpelier was considered and appointed county physician. Road overseers were named for three districts: H. M. Pug for district one, Win B. Poulsen for district two, and Byron Nelson for district three. The board now includes Ed Rich as chairman, and commissioners Wm. R. Morgan and John A. Hunt.
Editor H M Nelson of the Montpelier Examiner underwent hernia surgery Saturday at Montpelier Hospital. Reports say he is recovering in fine shape.
County officers were installed Monday at the court house. Ed C. Rich was named chairman as six incumbents extend terms. Sylvanious Peterson becomes district court clerk and auditor, succeeding Silas L. Wright. Budge retires as sheriff, with T. L. Austin and F. M. Williams also taking or retaining posts.
Mrs Susanna Price 77 wife of the late Bishop Robert Price died at home Wednesday noon after a long kidney illness. Emigrant from England to Utah and then Paris she lived in Bear Lake valley. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Second Ward chapel. burial in the city cemetery beside her husband. Survived by children Susanna Law Mary A Taylor Kate Rich Joseph Price Emma Clayton Lottie Ringle Mercy Kelsey Heber Price George Price. A full obituary will appear in the next Post.
