Bear Lake FFA Week Observed With Banquet and Awards
Bear Lake Chapter of the Future Farmers of America marked National FFA Week with a Monday banquet at the Georgetown LDS Ward Chapel. About 200 attendees heard Dr. Doyle Matthews of Utah State University praise farm backgrounds and high salaries, as students were honored for activities and awards earned in the past year.

Four Bear Lake FFA Members Nominated for State Farmer Degrees
Nine boys in the Taquireme Sits program were nominated for State Farmer Degrees with four from Bear Lake EFA Chapter Southeastern Idaho District Weldon Sleight Melvin Crane Paul Hunzeker and Kent Parker. Statement from FFA advisor Spencer Stucki notes results in about a month. State degree requires three year record book $500 project earnings and a state tests.

Bear Lake FFA swept both events in Grace, with Craig Passey winning Public Speaking on computer farming. Charles Izatt placed second and Paul O. Brian third, as Marsh Valley and Malad trailed. In Parliamentary Procedure Bear Lake won over Grace and Marsh Valley, hampered by Robert Crump’s absence due to the State Tournament.

U of I Beef Cattle Seminar Scheduled
The University of Idaho Extension Service will hold beef cattle seminars in Bear Lake Caribou and Franklin counties on February 27 28 and 29. Experts including Dr Floyd Frank Dr Robert Sweat and Dr R E B Christian will discuss infertility abortion disease transmission diagnosis prevention and control with sessions in Bancroft Montpelier Preston and Niter.

Large Crowd Attends MIA Party at Fish Haven Hall
A crowd of 125 attended the Stake Mutual Marrieds Party at Fish Haven Ward recreation hall Saturday evening. The event was directed by Mr and Mrs Arthur D Williams with a 7 30 dinner followed by a program. Guest speakers were Mr and Mrs Dredge and the Montpelier Lions Trio provided entertainment.

A Boise workshop for interested women kicks off the Jefferson-Jackson Day series. Registration is 9 to 10 am at Hotel Boise lobby with no fees.
