Oregon Short Line Pays Bear Lake County Taxes
A payment of 52,837.58 was mailed to Argilla Smedley, Bear Lake County Treasurer, from the Oregon Short Line Railroad in Salt Lake City on December 24, covering the first Bear Lake county tax installment for 1931. The second installment is due in June. Total 1931 Bear Lake taxes amount to 105,675.15 with allocations to state general, county general, roads, schools, and cities. E. M. Santa Claus Brings Pipes to Youths in Reformatory

Funeral Rites Held for Garden City Matron Mary Stock Gardner
Mary Stock Gardner 65 wife of J L Gardner died December 20 at her daughter’s home in Garden City Utah after a week long illness. Born Paris Idaho June 24 1866 she was the daughter of John and Francis Stock. Survived by seven children sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 28 at the Garden City chapel with speakers E N Scofield Wm A Keetch E M Pugmire and Olene Cook. Burial in Garden City Cemetery followed the service.
