City Council Sets Water Rates and Finances Water Plant
At Tuesday’s council meeting the water works committee said about 6500 dollars is needed to finish the water system. Rates are set per user type with fixed charges for residences, livery stables, schools, courthouse, barber shops, hotels, and business properties, plus additional taps. The vacancy from Dr. George F. Ashley’s resignation triggered a water appointment and the council lauded the administration for the plant’s operation as payments toward the balance will come from water rentals, avoiding costs on non-beneficiaries.
