Gregory E. Sparks 21 son of a local family was promoted to private first class on Okinawa where he serves as a postal clerk with the 21st Base Post Office. He enlisted in March 1958, completed basic training at Fort Ord California and arrived in Okinawa last August. Sparks graduated from Montpelier High School.
Montpelier resident Anna Harriet King wife of Dr Harry H King died suddenly last Wednesday at age 73 She was active in social and musical circles and served as matron of the Betsy Ross Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star She belonged to the Episcopal Church Funeral services were held at the First Community Church last Friday She leaves two daughters Mrs Lyon Healy of Pocatello and Mrs Edwin Bennett of LaGrande Oregon and a son Duncan King of Montpelier

Elder Alma Sonne an Assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles will speak at the Bear Lake Stake quarterly conference in Idaho. Sessions are set for December 6 and 7 with Sunday meetings at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm in the stake Tabernacle. Sonne leads in Utah civic religious and financial circles and is president of the First National Bank of Logan.
Mrs Heber J Price has spent seven weeks in an Ogden Utah hospital and has recuperated for four weeks at the home of her daughter Mrs Wm Thomas in Shelley Idaho.
The St Charles local gathering of Bloomington Fish Haven and St Charles met Friday night. Officers elected for the coming year include Arlin Pugmire chair man Mayo Krogue first assistant and Alton Kearl second assistant. In the Woman's department Carrie Pugmire is chairman Vera Kearl first assistant and Inez Findlay second assistant. Meetings will occur on the last Friday of each month in the towns.
The St Charles MIA held its annual Green and Gold Ball with the Fielding High School dance band providing music. The hall featured a Deep Purple theme and honored the Junior Gleaner Girls. Vern Peterson and Ruth Pugmire performed on saxophone and piano while Boy Scouts and Bee Hive Girls danced Tammy and an all girl dance led by Chad and Tamara Pugmire. A large regional crowd attended the event.
The widow of Jay Gilbo sues the Village of Bancroft in Fifth District Court seeking 50 000 damages for her husband s death in December 1954. Taxpayers receive 1040 1040A or 1099 forms with schedules and instructions. Farms forms available January at Boise and other city offices and post offices.
The Aviation Cadet Training Program now accepts qualified high school graduates ages 19 to 26 percent for pilot or navigator training. The 57 to 58 week courses run at major bases nationwide with entry tests on November 17, 1958. Interested men should contact MSgt. Val G.
