Monument Dedicated To Battle Creek War Site On Labor Day
The Franklin County Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Cache Valley Council of Boy Scouts, aided by Utah Trails and Land Marx Association, plan a monumental marker at the Battle Creek War site where Colonel Connor’s forces attacked a camp of Indians on January 29, 1863. The six foot square stone will rise near ten feet, built from donated rocks, with a dedicatory service, encampment, bonfire, and concerts on September 5–6. Notables from Idaho and Utah, church leaders, and officials are invited to attend, with speeches by Senator Borah, Governor Ross, Dr. Howard R. Driggs, and others. Public participation is encouraged and rock contributions are welcome.
