Fielding Alumni Readies Pageant for Homecoming

Alumni gather for a Homecoming pageant honoring Fielding's history from Bear Lake Stake Academy to Fielding High School. Ezra J. Poulsen authored the production with 160 Fielding fans aiding, featuring descendants of early school figures and notable principals like Jacob Hessel and Reed Smoot attending the rededication.

Alumni Grand Ball Set for September 2 at Fielding High

Fielding community rescues a tradition with an Alumni Grand Ball during Homecoming. Dancers from Le Crest School of Dancing perform character numbers while Mrs. Ben Hulme directs the chorus. Fielding High School band by William Billeter provides music. Relics from Fielding’s past will be displayed on the old Academy grounds now used by Victor Rosen for the event.

Donnell Jensen told a Sunday morning crowd about a big Rainbow trout he caught Saturday evening near Earls. He said the fish, weighing about a certain pounds, followed Fish and Game rules and regulations, and the secret lure remains undisclosed.

Funeral Held Tuesday for R W Wallentine

Funeral services were held in the Second Ward Chapel Tuesday afternoon for R Wallace Wallentine who died Saturday after a two week pneumonia illness. He was born October 18 1894 in Paris son of R W Vallentine and attended Paris schools. He married Lucile Grover June 12 1935 and lived in Paris most of the time. Survived by widow parents four sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers listed. grave dedicated by Cyril Budge.

Fielding FFA Wins Ribbons at Preston Livestock Meet

Fielding High School FFA earned second in livestock judging with 1736.7 points, close to Preston’s 1758.2. Dudley Cook led all judging entrants as high point man, while Fielding also took third in the Farm Mechanics contest with team members Dudley Cook Farner Findrowall Chase Pond and instructor Chase Pond.

Mrs Frank Athey returned home from a ten day visit with relatives. Mrs Wilford Price left for Salt Lake City for business and pleasure. County Treasurer June Daniels expects to mail about 300 tax deed notices. Stucki family hosted visitors. Rexburg superintendent Mr Stucki noted. Various locals traveled to Paris Logan and Montpelier for errands and a funeral. Several out of town guests attended Wallace Vallentine's funeral in Paris. Helen Herschi joined Mutual Creamery in Pocotello after a visit to the east. County Assessor Transtrum attended Boise meeting. Mrs Athol Stone and children returned from Sterling Idaho after visiting relatives.

Paris Girl Is Chosen Queen of County Fair

Miss LeNea Jensen daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Jensen was selected Queen of the Bear Lake County Fair at a Montpelier contest dance last Saturday evening. A large field of contestants competed and judges chose her though they were not county residents. The queen and her attendants will ride on a float in the parade opening day of the fair.

Unusual Yet True Frank Nye Keeps Large Batch of Chicks

Frank Nye reports ordering 125 baby chicks from a Kansas hatchery last spring but received 128. He claims 198 chicks remained healthy at his farm with 125 three and one month old birds thriving and no deaths or sickness among the lot. Verification by visitors is possible on site.

Walter Hoge to Instruct Bacteriology at Idaho University

Walter Hoge son of Mr and Mrs W J Hoge of Blackfoot left for Moscow to serve as instructor in bacteriology at the University of Idaho and assistant bacteriologist of the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station. He recently returned from Honolulu where he was a graduate assistant in bacteriology and earned a master's degree in June. He visited Paris with the Hoge family.

Local Education Exhibit Moves Ahead In Paris Visit

County Superintendent of Schools Jack Wright and his stenographer Miss Pugmire prepared the elementary school exhibit for the fair. The children made the material last spring and kept it under Mr Wright's supervision through the summer. Duesen and Dougan arrived in Paris on Saturday to handle business and visit friends.

Due to extreme dryness on the Cache National Forest a special fire patrolman has been employed to patrol the Paris district. Jay B Hann local Ranger announces. G B Crawford has been employed and will be on constant lookout for fires. The patrolman will be retained until the danger lessens.

Contested U.S. Homestead Case Heard in District Court

Testimony was taken Tuesday before Sam V. Tunks, Clerk, in United States versus Jessie T. Kunz. The case concerns a homestead entry in Caribou county. Government counsel W. Lawther, Kunz’s attorney Parnell Black, with Earl H. Weaver reporting. Final hearing set before the Register of the General Land Office in Blackfoot on September 21.

Trenching Begins on Georgetown Waterworks Project
