Idaho Farm Bureau to press grain rate changes before ICC
Alfred C. Cordon for the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation argues before the Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington, detailing plans to expand grain markets and lower freight rates. He cites joint routing through Butte to Seattle and Portland, a Pendleton-Yakima cutoff route, and a Bend Oregon route, plus rate groups and 10 percent reductions for Pacific coast shipments. A week long Pocatello hearing in 1945 produced an ICC report, with potential annual savings of about 500000 for grain growers credited to these objectives.
