Utah Territorial Constitution and Deseret State Legacy
Fragments recount the 1840s proscribed offenses by the High Council led by C Rich, the push for a Deseret state constitution, and the election that established Brigham Young as governor with a three-branch government. The text covers historical timelines from the 1847-1849 period through proposals to admit Deseret as a U.S. state and notes early governance in Salt Lake City.
