Grace tops Paris Montpelier and Fielding in a three school meet at Montpelier scoring 57 percent to 43 3/4 and 37 3/4 points. Individual results list Larson and Dunn from Montpelier and Haddock from Paris among top performers across sprints throws and jumps.

Election day in Paris drew only 122 voters as candidates faced no opposition after a mass meeting. Official results list Van Ness Wallentine as Mayor with 118 votes, W Smith Hoge Clerk 122, Edwin Shepherd Treasurer 121, and councilmen Weldon Grandy 116, William Lauritzen 108, Albert Spencer 118, Jess Scheidegger 116.

Funeral Rites for Chas Hildt in Garden City

Funeral services for Charles Hildt were held April 14 in Garden City ward chapel. The program included hymns Cast Thy Bread Upon the Waters and One Fleeting Hour, with speakers LaVoy Hildt and Royal Pope, and solos by Irene Sommers. Interment followed in Garden City Cemetery with grave dedication by Wilford Hansen.

Lions Club Ladies Dinner at Emerson School

The Paris Lions Club entertained their wives with a Friday dinner at Emerson school. A prepared dinner was served in the lunch room. Morris Athay acted as toastmaster and provided entertainment. Afterward the group danced and played cards.

Homer Hooban Named New Manager at Montpelier Employment Office

The Idaho State Employment Service announces Homer L. Hooban will manage the Montpelier Office. He arrives from Couer d Alene after logging industry work and prior service in Hamilton Montana. His family will join him when housing is found amid Montpelier’s acute shortage. Barbara Patterson joins as stenographer after two quarters at Utah State Agricultural College. The office remains a Veteran’s Information Center and job matching hub.

Book Review Club gathers in Montpelier for readings

Mrs Dortha Hann attended a Montpelier Book Review club meeting last Thursday at Eugene Nielsen home with co host Lydia Barlow. Jesse Kunz reviewed Spoon Handle by Ruth Moore and Marilyn Nielsen read aloud. Previous meeting featured Pavilion of Women by Pearl S Buck. New officers elected include Mrs Thomas Jones president Mrs Perl Parker vice president and Mrs W W Bartschi secretary.

Funeral Services Held Thursday for Carl Clark

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the St Charles Ward Chapel for Carl N Clark who died after a several months illness in Budge Memorial hospital Logan. A large gathering attended with organ piano prelude and choral selections. Dignitaries from the ward officiated and many relatives offered prayers and tributes. The service concluded with a dedicatory prayer at St Charles cemetery and a card of thanks from the Clark family.

Searchlight Presents Three Musketeers Film

The Searchlight Staff closed its film series with the Three Musketeers shown to students on Monday April 21. Cancer caused one eleventh Idaho deaths in 1946

John W Wright, head of Idaho Vital Statistics, reports 1946 Idaho deaths totaled 4 540 with 523 from cancer. Ada County led with 83 cancer deaths, Canyon 61. counties statewide show varied counts including Twin Falls 33 and Bonneville 22. Several counties report single or double cancer deaths.

Paris Students in University of Idaho 50 Piece Orchestra

John Grimmett and Earl Spencer of Paris are members of the University of Idaho 50 piece symphony orchestra which performed in Wallace Kelley and Mullan this week marking its first away appearance in two years. Joseph Brye will be featured as piano soloist. Grimmett played trombone and Spencer saxophone in the Pep Band Show.

Rich family returns home after Salt Lake death call

Mr and Mrs Grant Rich came back Saturday after being summoned to Salt Lake City earlier in the week due to the death of her mother. Mr Al Guhin and two sons drove the Richs to Paris and then returned the next day.

Edwin C Rich Passes Away in Garden City

Edwin Coulsen Rich 74 died at his home in Garden City last Friday. Born October 2, 1872 in Paris, he was son of Hyrum and Elizabeth Stock Rich. Survived by his widow Luna later marriage to Alvira Booth, three children, five grandchildren, and several siblings. Funeral services held April 21 in Garden City with interment at St. Charles Cemetery.
