Isaac L. Miller, 23, of Pampa, told sheriff's officers he was robbed at gunpoint by a hitchhiker on the Amarillo highway three miles west of Pampa. Lieut Skeldon suffered internal injuries with slim chances of recovery.
From Managua on January 27 the Nicaraguan National Guardia said eight rebels were killed in recent clashes. A guardsman was badly wounded after a skirmish near Ogaloa where Lieutenant Barillas led a patrol against Pedro Blandon’s men under General Sandino. One insurgent died in a separate engagement.
Former judge John W. Brady entered the Huntsville prison at 6 p.m. to begin a three year sentence for the murder of Mise Leh Vin Highsmith in Austin on November 9, 1929. Commitment papers arrived from Dallas County Sheriff Hal Hood and Warden W. W. Ward escorted him to the walls. Brady, wearing gray prison denim, requested his suitcase be brought to the prison walls and will undergo a physical exam tomorrow morning before assignment to duties.
In Bardtneccchia Italy an avalanche swept a patrol in the alpine heights between Ubielty and Chambery, killing frontier guards and injuring several others. The second such accident in a week was reported as a railroad tunnel marks the region, with winter road travel largely halted.
British aviator Mildred Bruce was slightly hurt when her plane overturned at Glenn L. Martin airport in Baltimore during a world circumnavigation attempt. The craft sank in mud off the runway. she escaped with a bruise and a cut, remained at a hotel overnight, and avoided a embassy reception as repairs began.

Texarkana authorities predicted the arrest of ten to fifteen men across the south in a dynamiting plot tied to the Garland City span over the Red River on September 3, causing about $250 in losses. A suspect across the river near Little Reck was reported, with other arrests in Little Rock, Bradley in Lafayette County, and Tola, Louisiana. Britain imports 16.7 million bushels of apples yearly, mostly from the United States.

Western Gas company officials said they completed arrangements at a conference for immediate construction of a 6 million dollar high pressure natural gas line extending 275 miles westward from El Paso to Sever, Douglas, Bisbee, Cananea, Sonora, and Mexico. Schedules were set to begin by August 1 and will serve Phelps Dodge, Calumet and Arizona Mining, Cananea Consolidated Copper, Arizona Edison, and other enterprises in the region.
