Austin January 14. The conviction and death sentence of Marcus Twitty for criminal assault on a three year old girl, daughter of carnival workers, was affirmed today by the court of criminal appeals. Twitty appealed to a gray county court after the alleged attack on April 30 while the child slept in a tent with her brother.
Examinations in science and commercial work are being given at the high school today. Final grades will be in the principal's office by Wednesday, with Harvesters eligible for letters to be announced soon. New students are asked to enroll on Mondays. Principal L. L. Gone said yesterday.

Washington January 14 The emergency 45 million dollar drought relief loans bill for farmers was approved by Congress but sparked a new fight over relief funding. Senator Robinson with Senator Black proposed a 25 million dollar treasury appropriation for the Red Cross to administer relief, threatening an extra session if needed. The administration opposed a 15.1 million dollar farm loan provision and moved to finalize the debt and aid measures, while debates raged over who would pay for relief and how funds could be used without geographic limits.
