Nimod Earl Tennant, longtime Pampa resident, receives the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Award for 43 years in the petroleum industry with no disabling injury. He began with Sinclair Oil in 1926, stayed through Atlantic Richfield ownership, spent a four-year period in Berger, and retired in December 1969 east of Pampa.

William Ludlum, 59, remained in good condition at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo after injuries from a suspected beating late Friday or Saturday. His wife Thelma found him unconscious at their home on 2121 N Banks. Police continue the investigation as Ludlum suffered head and face injuries following emergency treatment at Highland General.

Tornado hits Mirando City causing damage
A tornado tore through Mirando City in Webb County Texas injuring no one but causing heavy damage to roof lines and windows at the high school and elementary buildings. Residents reported the scare as deputy sheriff Luis Cardenas described the roaring noise like a jet breaking the sound barrier.
