Young Bride Electrocuted On Farm Near Panhandle
Rhonda Jean Bailiff twenty was electrocuted while her husband Johnny and farm owner Glenn Pratt tried to view a ground squirrel in an irrigation pipe on a Panhandle area farm. Bailiff died on arrival at a Panhandle doctor’s office. Pratt and Bailiff’s wife were treated for burns at Highland General Hospital in Pampa. Funeral plans were pending.

Arkansas Man Killed In Shootout At Police Station
Text of a Texarkana, Arkansas shootout after James E. Twitty, freed 90 minutes earlier on bond, returned with two pistols. One patrolman wounded, Twitty killed by nine bullets after threatening officers. Police sergeant and others described the fatal exchange and rapid actions by officers during the confrontation.

Sugar Prank Reported at Farr’s Cafeteria
James Camp of 205 Tignor complained to Pampa police that sugar was placed in a truck gasoline tank left overnight at Farr’s Cafeteria in Cornonado Center. He suspects youths angry over cafeteria trash loading. A sugar scoop was found in the men’s room. Police continue to investigate.

Assault Charges Filed Against Farm League Coach
A municipal court charge of assault and battery was filed against K A Buddy Lamberson after Ken Peeples alleged he was struck at a Farm League baseball game June 21 at Optimist Park. Peeples collapsed and was treated at Northwest Texas Hospital Amarillo and remains at home under care. Both men were suspended from Optimist Club activities by a unanimous vote during the investigation.
