Army Lists Its Dead Missing in WW Two
Gray county residents are listed by the army as dead or missing in World War II. The war department places 20 killed in action, 22 died of non battle causes, seven missing and presumed dead, and two wounded to death. A first consolidated WW II roll was released, listing nearly 310,000 names and noting possible errors. He worked 28 years for the Texas company as production foreman in the Skellytown Borger area and had lived in Borger 10 years. He was born in Petrolia and came to the Panhandle from Nocona. Survived by wife, one son Charles of Borger two daughters Dorothy Parks of St Louis and Barbara Fowler of Borger two brothers Grady Fowler of Ladonta and Dewey Fowler of Little Rock four sisters Mrs Ernest Alexander Mrs A W Henderson Mrs Johny F Wallace and Mrs C M Stephens. Juan Antonio Rios president of Chile since 1942 died here today after a prolonged illness at age 54. He had been on leave since January due to ill health. Elected February 1, 1942 in a leftist Popular Front victory, he succeeded Pedro Aguirre Cerda. Rios had previously served as prime minister, minister of justice and head of the Chilean Agriculture Bank.

Auto Wreck Sends One to Hospital in Pampa Area
A 1941 Ford pickup driven by Clyde Pegram collided with a 1934 Ford coach driven by Mrs. F E Matheny at the corner of Ald Finley streets in Pampa. Matheny was hospitalized with slight bruises. Pegram was uninjured. A sister and a child were in Matheny’s car. A bystander G W Shelton reported minor injuries to a passenger. Damage to both cars was about 250 dollars.
