London reports say Great Britain refused to commit to a European gold stabilization bloc led by France and other continental powers. Dallas visitor F E Cannon, newly promoted Western Union Texas superintendent, greeted the first time in Pampa since 1927. Cannon opened the local Western Union in 1927 and later led East Texas, now on an inspection tour of the state amid growth in Pampa.
A group led by Sam Penberg and companions left for Creed Colorado yesterday afternoon on a fishing expedition. They planned to reach Springer California then Creed to fish. The party described the area as rugged and remote with challenging but rewarding fishing.
Great Britain retained possession of the Ryder Cup defeating the United States by 9 1/2 to 5 1/2 in two days of highly competitive play. Sydoo Rasterbrook sealed the British victory by 1 up after 38 holes. Gene Sarazen, Craig Wood, Horton Smith, and Abe Mitchell each won for Britain in singles, with notable upsets and strong crowds, including the Prince of Wales observing.

In Amarillo, Roy Wight for the Texas company formally filed for gas stripping permits on four wells in the LeFors area. He argued the residue could feed a Cortexo carbon black plant, but the company remains opposed to stripping, warning of gas dissipation and asserting it would harm profits and reserves. The firm controls 80 percent of the acreage and 30 percent of LeFors gas, with others accounting for 20 percent.
In Austin, the State of Texas vs W Bradford et al closed with the court dismissing Reed & Caswell’s river bed claim for lack of prosecution. Disputed costs totaled over $2,000 against the State, with Reed & Caswell previously contributing over $20,000. Moody appeared for Reed & Caswell arguing the State should repay costs.
Bell Oil & Gas No 1 Gulf Evans in Wheeler county reached 400 barrels daily after initial flow of 25 barrels per hour. Pay found at 2,408 feet with 4,000,000 cubic feet of gas. Located across from Morse pool in Gray county, the well disrupted near 2,360 feet but deepening continued.

Panera Kiwanis joined 1,850 club members last night to observe All Kiwanis Night as Carl Endicott addressed delegates to the Kiwanis convention in Los Angeles. Jim Collins read the address in Pampa with telegram from local officials read by Fred Thompson. A brief talk on interclub relations was given by Kiwani Hern Dix of White Deer. One minute of silent citizenship observed nationwide. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rose and Mrs. M. Downs. Everyone sang Onward Kiwanis to close.
