Last Surviving Veteran of Indian Wars Dead
Fredrik Fraske, the last Army veteran of the American Indian wars, died at 101 in Chicago. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he immigrated to the United States at age three and served in the Wyoming Territory in the 1890s. His daughter Lillian Fraske recalled his serious nature and quiet years after service.

Thieu Warns Of Communist Peace Goals
President Nguyen Van Thieu warned against believing Communist peace appeals and said their aim remains to invade South Vietnam by force. Speaking at Armed Forces Day in Saigon, he addressed about 50,000 onlookers as a helicopter and aircraft flyover followed a 20,000-strong armed forces parade. Kidnappers Free Victim After Failed Ransom Drop
