Fatal weekend on Texas roads totals 34 deaths
A fiery car truck crash between Wharton and El Campo Sunday night killed five, part of a deadly Texas weekend that left 34 fatalities including 18 traffic deaths, seven homicides, five in a plane crash and two drownings. Other deaths included Nina Ainsworth of Houston and Neal Ainsworth injured, a Cessna crash near Nepal, and a Dallas sports car rollover on Northwest Highway.

Florida braces as Agnes nears landfall in Panhandle
AP report from Apalachicola, Florida notes thousands evacuated low lying areas along the Gulf Coast while others refused to flee as Hurricane Agnes moves north at about 12 mph. Eye 250 miles south of Panama City. Agnes bears 80 mph winds with 100 mph gusts and is expected to hit near Apalachicola. The storm has killed eight and injured dozens, with twisters damaging homes and mobile homes.

Five Die In Gonzales Plane Crash Near Ranchland
A four place Cessna 182 crashed into muddy ranchland near Gonzales Texas killing five people including two young girls. The pilot Eugene Davis Jr 27 and passenger Joe Morales 27 along with Morales wife Lydia 25 and their daughters Belinda 4 and an infant died. The cause was undetermined as authorities recovered bodies from six to eight feet of mud. The crash occurred about 2 50 a m CDT and was spotted hours later by a Civil Air Patrol search plane.

Man Jailed After Affray on East Campbell St
A 42-year-old Pampa man was jailed Sunday night after a disturbance at an East Campbell Street residence. He and the resident woman appeared intoxicated with injuries from a fight. The woman sought his removal. officers arrested him and she planned to file charges the next morning.
