James Edward Gilbert 86 of 532 Hazel died en route to a Roswell New Mexico hospital. Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday Carmichael Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Lloyd V. Hamilton officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Velma Dills Gilbert, a son Kenneth, four daughters, three sisters, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He moved to Pampa in 1926 after birth in Goodhope Mississippi and a 1916 Durant Oklahoma marriage. He worked for City of Pampa nine years and Gray County eleven years before retiring.

Vietnam cease fire holds amid renewed fighting in delta
In Saigon the second Vietnam cease-fire began at noon but fighting continued. UPI reports 21 Communist violations in three hours with at least three South Vietnamese soldiers killed and four wounded.
