Veteran William A. Martin Dies at 87 in Wichita Falls
William A. Martin 87 died in a Wichita Falls hospital from injuries and gas shell shock suffered on the French battlefield in October 1918. He will be given full military honors at First Methodist Church with burial by a funeral coach. He survived as one of seven of 240 to come home alive, later discharged in 1919. He served with Company G, 149th Infantry, 36th Division. operations around St Etienne, Argonne, Aisne sector. He is survived by parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Burial plans and local memorials noted. A separate inspection of Hoover landing field is conducted by officials from Dallas and Fort Worth, with J. G. Rhoades overseeing routes.
