Government records show Patna area rainfall at 9.59 inches from Jan 1, 1937 with 2.99 inches in the first eight days of June and 1.55 inches today. May totals include 0.50, 0.21, 0.50, 0.62, 1.00, 0.30, 0.58 inches across May dates, followed by June 2 to today. In 1939, 0.69 inches fell by date, vs 7.7 inches in the same period in 1836.
Huge hail stones remained on the ground until morning causing extensive damage in McLean and surrounding areas. Sixty four school windows were smashed, homes and stores suffered, roofs battered, and vegetation damaged.
