Oklahoma City reports Governor Holloway pardoned Tuesday night by the Oklahoma Supreme Court from a one year sentence. The pardoned individual, identified as Owens, fled the city after the pardon was granted and is missing.
Applications for the postmaster position in Pampa close in Washington on June 24. The vacancy follows the resignation of W A Crawford who will rejoin railroad service in the western Santa Fe division. President Hoover will appoint with recommendations from Republican officials in the county and state.
County chairman Dr W E von Brunow asks all Republican county executive committee members to meet at the courthouse Wednesday noon June 11 to select the Republican ticket for Gray county. He states the office shall seek the man not the man the office and notes the committee failed to find a suitable Republican candidate.
Don L. Wakeman of Pampa declares his bid for county judge emphasizing twenty four years of legal practice and a platform of honest fearless public service. He plans to address the public with an open letter outlining his position as candidate for the office.
Mrs. Jennie Evans, 58, died after months of illness at the Evans farm near White Deer at 6 a m Saturday. The body was sent to Roby Texas for burial with G G Malone funeral home in charge. She had lived at White Deer eight years and is survived by three sons H A Evans Altus Oslar Richard and Orpheun Evans White Deer and one daughter Mrs Cora Hoag Jend Santa Barbara California. She also leaves brothers William Alexander Tom Alexander of Copperas Cove Texas Alfred Alexander Abilene and S B Alexander Mecauley Texas and a sister Mrs Ellen Archer Vernon. Family members living in White Deer attended the funeral.
Gray County reports a weekly decline in oil output despite 587 wells in operation. Total production fell to 77,572 barrels, down 1,436 from the prior week’s 78,008 barrels. The largest individual well was Humble Oil and Refining No 3 Combs Worley at 1,360 barrels.
Judge Clifford Braly overruled a defense motion for a new trial in the Todd v City of Pantoa case. In the current 8 week term, two juries awarded Todd 6400 for his daughter Mickey's death at a street crossing two years ago, the second trial after an $8500 verdict previously. Defense firm Cook Smith Teed gave notice of appeal.
Arrangements are under way for a Pampa American Legion delegation to travel to the 18th district convention in Slaton on June 15. The group, including the Legion band, plans a 5 a.m. departure by coach, joining the Amarillo delegation’s train about 7 a.m. Round trip tickets cost 6 dollars, with return the same day.
